We all start somewhere. In this instance, there was an urge to make music & minimal means to do it. Sometimes though the limitations serve as the shovel in the soil when digging the foundations of resourcefulness & creativity moving forward.

These pieces were recorded between 1998-1999 on hand-me-down computers using Windows built in Sound Recorder software & the limited effects it had (pitch shifting via half & double speed, copy & pasting sounds, echo, & reversing sound). It was an unintended sort of music concrete set of rules for computer music. Some pieces like "deringer" used a built in sound from Windows as the only sound source -- in this particular case the "ding" sound. These were formative experiments in the Small Life Form catalog &, in a sense, the project has stayed to the approach & innovation invoked when a need to create is met with the limitations of rudimentary tools. Drone out, zone out, & feel the ambient aggression in its embryonic form.
