about

Since 1996 Remora’s been exploring the guitar as a source for aggressive ambient soundscapes. Warm Bodies is Remora’s latest & most ambitious exploration of guitar feedback & the piece has roots in 2009’s Guitar Antihero (a piece for five guitars, a bass & four amplifiers – with one guitar played vaguely traditionally while the others were arranged as drone instruments occasionally hit or kicked to ring out & feedback) & in 2011’s The Heart That Kills (two guitars & two basses through a 4-track to monitors with feedback manipulated through faders). On Warm Bodies, Remora leader Brian John Mitchell controlled the feedback on three guitars while five other guitars & a bass were controlled by Nicholas Slaton (slicnaton), Martin Newman (Goddakk, DRLNG), Michael Wood (M is We), Micheal Madden (M is We), & Rowland Yeargan (Sportsmanship) with the only instruction given that it was better to be the quietest than the loudest. Forming together into one giant beast like an anime superhero, it’s virtually impossible to decipher any individual from another in the sonic ocean where you aren’t sure if you’ll be drowned or destroyed by some legendary sea creature or somehow saved by a passing suckerfish.
