The Affectionates defy their garage revivalist upbringing to indulge in drone space with three tracks of lo-fi, gazey, synth & drums knitted together from a not-to-be-wasted room recording captured on a dark & stormy night, dubbed with UFO interview clips to complete the aesthetic.

The recording went unknown & utterly forgotten by the band for over a year as the microphone in the studio on that night was hot, but to little acknowledgement or consideration, a habit to record rehearsals & archive them for later critique or inspiration. The capture of this night however, bore no songs, just a mechanical stream of synth & beat… a typical retreat for the band on cold winter nights when they couldn’t bring themselves to play the set for the one-hundredth time.

Lead singer, Jeremy Blair, stumbled upon the recording while clearing disk space &, waste-not want-not, immediately began producing it as an oddity for their body of work & a capturing of those dark & stormy nights in the studio when all they really wanted to do was absorb into the ether & make noise together. Sensing dark undertones in the beat, Blair enlisted a vocal element from interviews with school children describing a UFO that landed on their playground during recess in Zimbabwe in1994.
