For a while now we’ve been talking about trying to do some splits & such to help foster the idea of community among Silber artists & so here we have post punk from Carrboro, NC with M is We & post rock from Barnaul, Russia with Thorn1. In spite of their different styles & geographic locations, both projects have a camaraderie with influences from the goth, darkwave, & synthpop scenes & those roots can be heard on these two tracks. On “You Can’t Get Back” M is We’s influences from Christian Death, The Misfits, & The Banshees can be heard, while on “Asthma” Thorn1’s love for Depeche Mode, Lycia, & The Cure can be felt while both bands manage to have their own unique sound. Both tell tales of unobtainable love trying to find something new, a new way to breathe & stay alive.
