about

Back in late 2006 rock writer Michael Chamy suggest I check out the Austin band Hotel Hotel because he thought they’d fit well in the Silber roster. I listened to them & was like, “Yeah, but they already have a label & I’m not sure I can offer them anything more.” Then I got contacted by PD Wilder; he was booking a one off show in my hometown (a 20 hour drive away) with me opening so I could see them live & they could convince me Silber should be their home. Which was pretty much decided on before we finished our first beers. Unfortunately they were plagued with line-up changes, eventually breaking up around the same time as the release of "The Sad Sea". But Cactus Hands is the first half of the follow-up to "The Sad Sea". The band expanded from what I think of as their classic three piece line-up (guitar, violin, drums) to have piano, bass, & a second guitar. Soaring shimmering instruments, this is post rock from Texas.
