about

Mkl Anderson has been involved with Silber pretty much from the beginning. His Bluesanct label acted as an older brother sounding board for questions in the early days about everything from who to trust for distribution to what DPI to use for laser printed short runs on our first Christmas compilation Silber Xmas 2000 (which his band Drekka appears on). We’re always pleased to get to work with him & were super happy he was able to squeeze a Christmas EP in for our series despite a busy schedule.

While visiting Iceland on the “Don't Make The Drugs” tour in fall of 2014, Drekka was asked to record a Christmas EP for Silber. Mkl Anderson, Sarah Dunevant, & Þórir Georg spent an evening at Ronja Records HQ improvising winter dreams of Christmas for the label’s namesake cat, Ronja. Upon returning home from tour, Anderson mixed this dream session... adding a few field recordings from around Iceland & one short excerpt from Drekka's “Twelve Tone Failures” installation in Reyjkavik. The recordings are a mix of drone, glitch, & silence & called Ronja’s Christmas Witch.
